Rockets’ rising star Shen Jing spoke to media reporters, addressing the topic of his contract extension with the Rockets.
Shen Jing stated, “My agent is in talks with the Rockets. I won’t become a free agent until next season, so other teams can’t offer me a contract this season. Next season, other teams will be able to offer me a contract, and they can give me a maximum four-year deal. However, my current team, the Rockets, can offer me a five-year max deal. Next season, I could sign a four-year contract worth approximately $180 million or $200 million, that’s roughly what the market looks like. The Rockets don’t have to extend my contract this season, but if they don’t, there will be these four-year max deals waiting for me next season.”
Shen Jing is 21 years old. Last season, he played 63 games for the Rockets, averaging 32.5 minutes per game, scoring 21.1 points, grabbing 9.3 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, and making 1.2 steals per game.
