Today, in Group B of the Olympic women’s basketball preliminaries, Canada faced off against Nigeria.

The teams then traded blows, ending the first quarter tied at 18-18.
In the second quarter, Canada scored four straight points, but Nigeria responded with a three-pointer. Alexander scored from an offensive rebound, and the teams continued to battle closely, tying the score several times. Canada broke the deadlock with consecutive three-pointers, forcing Nigeria to call a timeout. After the break, Karu hit a three-pointer for Nigeria, narrowing the gap.
At halftime, Canada led Nigeria 41-37.
