Media Figures: Individual CBA Clubs Complain About Training Impacting New Season Readiness; Basketball Association Urges Unity and Consideration for the Greater Good

On August 2nd, the Chinese men’s national basketball team’s training roster was announced, and media figure Fu Zhenghao updated their social media with commentary.

The original text states:

Despite the Chinese men’s national basketball team not having significant competition tasks this summer, they have consecutively organized two training sessions, which is unprecedented in history. Following my previous disclosure of the team’s training at Haideng on August 5th, some individual clubs privately complained that the second round of training would disrupt their new season preparation plans.

The reason for the concentrated arrangement of two training sessions within a short period of time is due to the Chinese men’s national basketball team changing its head coach and the association’s deputy leadership. The coaching styles and player selection philosophies of Coach Qiao and Coach Guo are different. An informed source revealed that the player list and schedule for the previous training session were finalized during Coach Qiao’s tenure, making the current training more aligned with Coach Guo’s team-building philosophy. Ultimately, a two-month-long training session was designed, which would include two warm-up matches against foreign clubs.

It is understood that the Basketball Association conducted explanations, communications, and persuasion work with the clubs and key players, urging them to consider the greater good. They emphasized that if the national team’s performance remains low, the commercial appeal of the CBA league will also decline, and everyone should share the same fate. As a result, all players participating in the training will attend the training, rather than seeing some players absent as in the previous training session.

Coach Guo specifically made an explanation regarding Zhao Weilun’s absence from the training list due to handling signing matters with his overseas club. This clarification aims to avoid any misunderstandings.

As for Cui Yongxi, who had announced his return to the United States to pursue his NBA dreams by early August, he might need to adjust his plans due to the national team’s training. However, he could still take leave from the national team, given the rarity of young people willing to step out of their comfort zones. The Basketball Association should facilitate this process. Only hope that in the future, there will be no false historical legends spreading like “Yongxi missed the opportunity to join the NBA due to national team training” or similar misinformation.
