In the recently concluded Paris Olympics, the host nation France won the silver medal in the men’s basketball final after losing to the United States. Gobert, due to an injury, was benched by the French head coach during the knockout stage.
On his podcast show, Gil’s Arena, Arenas stated,
“This clearly shows that what we’ve been saying all along is true; he (Gobert) is a liability on defense. We saw it time and time again, he is considered the best defender, but when you need him to defend, he’s not on the court. So this contradicts his awards (four-time DPOY).”
