Former NBA star “General” Arenas discussed the GOAT debate between James and Jordan in the latest episode of “Above The Rim.”
Arenas stated:
“The GOAT must change, many people who claim Jordan is the GOAT have never seen Jordan in real life, and for those born in the 90s, shut your mouth, you haven’t seen Jordan either. Kobe might be your GOAT because you saw him get drafted in 1996. My point is you need to be old enough to understand what you’re seeing.”
“Look at what James has done in the last ten years, now no one except those guys in their sixties would mention Michael Jordan, because his fame doesn’t exist anymore. He is a real person, just like we all know who he is, but only when people talk about LeBron James do they mention Jordan. This is the last bit of relevance Michael Jordan’s name has.”
“This is why people ask ‘Why isn’t Kobe considered the best player,’ because he has been surpassed. Talking about third place is meaningless now, it’s only about first and second.”
