Rondo Admits to Violating Gun Agreement, Sentenced to Probation for Months

Today, according to U.S. reporter Benjamin Adducchio, former NBA player Rajon Rondo has pleaded guilty to a gun charge, and Rondo will not serve time after pleading guilty.

According to the plea agreement reached with prosecutors, the charge of carrying marijuana has been dropped. The charges stem from an incident in January this year in Indiana, when Rondo was pulled over by traffic police for suspected illegal driving. The officer claimed to have smelled marijuana in Rondo’s vehicle (marijuana use is illegal in Indiana), which led to a search of the vehicle, resulting in an unexpected find (a firearm). Rondo was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and two drug-related charges (including possession of marijuana).

This Tuesday, Rondo attended a hearing in Indiana. According to TV station reports, he was found guilty of unlawful carrying of a firearm and was ultimately sentenced to pay $189 in court costs and serve six months in prison. However, due to the plea agreement, Rondo received time served credit after serving two days, making the six-month sentence probationary.
