Recently, Lakers player Rivers, during an interview in the Philippines as part of his Asia tour, expressed his satisfaction with the current Lakers roster, stating that the team already has the conditions necessary to contend for a championship.
Rivers said, “I am satisfied with the current roster, and I also believe that the Lakers have what it takes to compete for the championship.”
When talking about losing to the Nuggets in the first round of last season’s playoffs, Rivers said, “Although we lost the series, upon reviewing the games, we just lacked execution at certain moments. The Nuggets did better in this regard, but if we had executed better on the court, we would have won that series, and then had a chance to face the Timberwolves. So I am satisfied with the team’s current situation.”
When asked about his evaluation of new coach Redick, Rivers said, “Redick is a highly competitive coach. He met with us during the Summer League and shared his thoughts, ‘I spent three hours studying the tactics board just to figure out how we are going to play!’ So you can clearly understand the level of commitment he has to this job.”
