On August 16, the WNBA regular season resumed with the Liberty facing off against the Los Angeles Sparks.
In the first quarter, the Sparks were completely out of form, conceding a 10-0 run at the start. Li Yueru then came off the bench to score one of two free throws, helping the team secure their first point. However, the Sparks still could not find their offensive rhythm, while the Liberty continued to play smoothly, quickly widening the score gap. By the end of the first quarter, the Liberty led the Sparks 29-10.
