Dongqiqi Injured During Training by Teammate Collision to be Re-evaluated in a Week; He Will Miss Next Week's Training Camp

On October 3, it was reported that Luka Doncic, the star player of the Dallas Mavericks, suffered a calf injury and will miss next week’s training camp.

On Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks officially announced that Doncic had been struck during this week’s training, resulting in a contusion to his left calf, and he will be re-evaluated in a week as needed.

The Mavericks’ head coach commented on Doncic’s injury, “There is no need to worry about whether he can play right now. We will see how he feels in a week.”

Doncic is undoubtedly the best player on the Mavericks, and this injury is similar to the calf injury he sustained before the season last year. Given that it is still the training camp and preseason period, the Mavericks will be particularly cautious in handling when he returns.

Last year, after his injury, he played fewer preseason games and had less playing time, but this issue did not carry over into the regular season. Last season, Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.2 rebounds per game, leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals, being selected to the All-NBA First Team, and finishing third in MVP voting.

He is one of the best players in the world and the hope for the Mavericks’ championship. In the new season, with the companionship of Kyrie Irving, the addition of Klay Thompson, and the expected growth of Dereck Lever II, the Mavericks aim to return to the NBA Finals and go further, but none of this can be achieved without Doncic’s health.
