Multiple Sources: Jimmy Butler Uninterested in Early Contract Extension, Will Test Free Agency; Could Renew for Up to 0 Million Yearly

According to multiple sources, including veteran Heat reporter Barry Jackson, Butler is not interested in an early contract extension with the Heat next summer and will test the free agency market.

If Butler were to sign an early extension with the Heat, he could secure a deal worth $113 million over two years. However, if Butler opts out of his contract next summer, he could sign a maximum contract with the Heat worth $243 million over four years. If Butler were to join another team next summer, he could sign a maximum contract worth $171 million over three years.

Butler’s salary for the 2024-25 season is $48.8 million, and he has a player option worth $52.41 million for the 2025-26 season. He is currently expected to decline this player option, opt out of his contract, and test the free agency market.

This approach carries significant risk, as if he opts out of his contract and no team is willing to offer him a large contract, he would also lose the substantial salary of $52.41 million.

Butler was born on September 14, 1989, and just turned 35. By then, he will be nearly 36 years old. Let’s wait and see how the situation develops.
