The new season of the CBA is about to kick off, and today we introduce a traditional strong team of the CBA – Beijing BAIC Men’s Basketball Team.
Last Season Recap:
BAIC’s overall performance last season was average, with a record of 27 wins and 25 losses in the regular season, eventually ranking 11th. This performance and ranking were surpassed by their city rivals Beikong for the first time, which was clearly unsatisfactory for both management and fans. In the first round of the playoffs, BAIC lost 1-2 to Shanghai, failing to reach the quarter-finals.
Off-season Changes:
Due to the poor performance last season, BAIC made significant moves in this summer’s transfer market. All foreign players have been replaced compared to last season, signing three foreign players: Omot, Jieman, and Solomon. Among them, Jieman and Omot are familiar faces in the CBA, having proven themselves in the league before; Solomon, while not very famous, is versatile and very practical. On the domestic front, they signed Zhou Qi and Chen Yingjun, with Zhou Qi being currently the strongest domestic center in the CBA, and Chen Yingjun also one of the best point guards in the CBA.
New Season Outlook:
The addition of two major domestic reinforcements, Zhou Qi and Chen Yingjun, along with three foreign players Jieman, Omot, and Solomon, has significantly enhanced BAIC’s strength. With Fan Ziming, Zeng Fanbo, Zhai Xiaochuan, Fang Shuo, Lei Meng, Tian Yuxiang, Zhang Cairen, Qiu Tian, and others remaining on the team, BAIC boasts strong players across all positions, making their lineup truly luxurious.
In the new season, BAIC’s head coach has become Xu Limin, an experienced coach, while Li Nan has become a team consultant. After many years, BAIC is once again led by a domestic coach. As an old-school coach, Xu Limin is very strict with training requirements, emphasizing basic skills and physical conditioning, laying a good foundation during the off-season that could benefit the team. Judging from the roster alone, BAIC already has the potential to compete for the championship.
Of course, BAIC also faces some uncertainties. First, with the arrival of a new coaching staff and multiple new players, team cohesion will be an issue. Secondly, the back injury of key player Zhou Qi may also be a minor concern.
Predicted Starting Lineup: Chen Yingjun, Jieman, Omot, Zhai Xiaochuan, Zhou Qi.
Predicted Ranking: Top four in the regular season.
