Beijing Shougang Officially Announces Signing of German and Omot

On October 2nd, Beijing Shougang Men’s Basketball officially announced the formal signing of Eugene German and Anunwa Omot. Among them, Omot will wear jersey number 21, while German will wear jersey number 5. Below is the official announcement from Shougang:

The clarion call for the new season is about to sound, and the team roster is gradually complete. After Solomon, our club has officially completed the signing of foreign players Eugene Anthony German and Anunwa Omot and completed all registration procedures. German will wear jersey number 5, and Omot will wear jersey number 21, both representing Beijing Shougang Ducks Men’s Basketball Team in the 2024-2025 CBA season.

German was born on December 2, 1997, in the United States, stands 183 cm tall, weighs 84 kg, and plays as a guard. After graduating from Northern Illinois University in 2020, German successively played in the Greek and Turkish basketball leagues. In the 2022-23 season, he first came to the CBA league, playing 41 games for Qingdao men’s basketball, averaging 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in 22.5 minutes of play, ranking fourth in the league in scoring average. In the 2023-24 season, German played for Fujian men’s basketball, averaging 22.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in 47 games over 25.6 minutes of play, ranking eighth in the league in scoring average.

Omot was born on October 3, 1994, stands 206 cm tall, weighs 98 kg, and plays as a forward. Omot has played in multiple countries’ basketball leagues, including the United States, Netherlands, Turkey, Poland, and Germany. In the 2023-24 season, Omot first came to the CBA league, playing 11 games for Ningbo team, averaging 25.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in 27 minutes of play, with a field goal percentage of 52.1% and a three-point shooting percentage of 43.4%. In the recently concluded Paris Olympics, Omot represented South Sudan’s men’s basketball team, averaging 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2 steals per game in three group stage matches. Particularly in the match against the U.S. team, Omot scored 24 points alone, leaving a deep impression on all fans with his outstanding performance.

The arrival of German and Omot will be a powerful addition to the team’s guard and forward lines.
