On September 21, the Toronto Raptors announced that Bruce Brown has undergone right knee arthroscopic surgery and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. According to this timeline, Brown is expected to miss training camp and the team’s five preseason games.
Brown played a key role in the Denver Nuggets’ championship win in 2023, which led him to sign a two-year, $45 million contract with the Indiana Pacers. However, his performance declined last season with the Pacers, not meeting the team’s expectations, leading the Pacers to trade him to the Raptors for Siakam.
In a previous interview, Brown mentioned that he had been dealing with knee issues since joining the Raptors. “It’s been tough. I mean, I really can’t bend my knee; I’ve been playing on one leg.”
However, this summer, the Raptors chose to exercise the $23 million team option in Brown’s contract, partly because he could be a valuable trading asset. Brown will become a free agent at the end of this season.
In 34 games with the Raptors, Brown averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, shooting 31.7% from beyond the arc.
