Dismal Performance! Sun’s Loss to Aces Puts Second Place Out of Reach

On September 16, the WNBA regular season continued, with the Connecticut Sun falling 71-84 to defending champions the Las Vegas Aces on the road, thus ending their three-game winning streak.

The Sun managed to keep up with the score at the beginning of the game and even took the lead before halftime. Unfortunately, they were then hit by an 11-1 run from their opponents, trailing by 8 points at halftime. In the second half, the Sun’s offense completely fizzled out, losing the third quarter by 12 points. By the end of the third quarter, they were already down by 20 points, effectively removing any doubt about the outcome of the game.

With this loss, the Sun have lost control over their bid for second place in the league. With only two rounds remaining, they are still two wins behind the Lynx, meaning that even if they win the direct confrontation in the next game, they will still be at the mercy of others.

The Sun’s offensive performance was extremely poor in this game, hitting only 6 out of 19 three-point attempts for a mere 31.6% success rate, with Carrington and Bonner both missing all four of their attempts. Only three players scored in double digits for the team: Mabrey with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists; Jones with 17 points and 9 rebounds; and Harris with 16 points.
