WNBA's Fifteenth Team Lands in Portland; Set to Compete in 2026, Sharing Home Arena with Blazers

Today, the WNBA announced that it has awarded its 15th franchise to Portland, thereby extending the league’s footprint to the city.

It is understood that this team will begin playing in 2026, led jointly by NWSL Portland Thorns owner Lisa Bhathal Merage and Alex Bhathal.

The team’s home arena will be the Moda Center in downtown Portland, where the NBA’s Trail Blazers also play their games.
