CBA New Season Preview: Zhejiang Team – Outstanding Local Players, New Trio of Foreign Players to Determine the Height

Review of last season:

Zhejiang Chouzhou achieved a record of 41 wins and 11 losses in the regular season last season, ranking third in the league due to a disadvantage in mutual game records against Liaoning and Xinjiang men’s basketball teams. In the playoffs, Zhejiang Chouzhou advanced directly to the second round where they narrowly defeated Shanghai Jiushi with a score of 3-2. However, they were eliminated by Xinjiang men’s basketball team with a score of 1-3 in the semi-finals, missing out on the finals regrettably.

Changes during the off-season:

Zhejiang Chouzhou made minimal changes to their local players during the off-season, with newcomers Li Hongbo and Lin Yifeng joining the first team, but it is unlikely that they will provide substantial assistance to the team’s overall strength. The biggest change for Zhejiang Chouzhou lies in their foreign players. Last season’s core foreign player Carrick Jones moved to Europe and did not return. Therefore, Zhejiang Chouzhou decided to replace all their foreign players from last season and quickly signed three new foreign players: Paris Bass, Gabriel York, and Damian Jones.

Prospects for the new season:

After a season of coaching, Wang Shilong, the head coach of Zhejiang Chouzhou, has gradually gained recognition. The lineup of local players for Zhejiang Chouzhou is also quite impressive, with Wu Qian, Cheng Shaipeng, Liu Zeyi, Yu Jiahao, Wang Yibo, and others who have played together for many years and have formed good chemistry.

The progress of Zhejiang Chouzhou in the new season largely depends on the performance of their foreign players. During the pre-season games, all three foreign players of Zhejiang Chouzhou performed well, especially Bass, who scored over 30 points in two out of three games. The performances of Jones and York were also commendable.

With the rule of four quarters and four foreign player substitutions per game in the new season, along with a group of outstanding local players, Zhejiang Chouzhou should not perform poorly overall. As for their final results, this will test Wang Shilong’s ability to integrate the team.
