Monty Williams, who has coached in the NBA for many years, is set to become the highest-paid high school basketball coach in the United States.
Earlier, TMI Episcopal School in San Antonio announced, “We are delighted to announce that Monty Williams will be the new head coach of our men’s basketball team. Coach Williams brings a wealth of coaching experience, having served as head coach for the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns (he was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2022).”
The high school team Monty will coach is also where his son currently attends school, and his son is set to graduate in 2029. Monty may remain the coach for his son’s entire high school career.
During his only season with the Detroit Pistons, the team had a record of 14 wins and 68 losses, leading to his dismissal at the end of the season. However, his contract is fully guaranteed, meaning he will still receive $65 million over the remaining five years.
