Edwards Reiterates NFL Aspiration: If I Win a Championship in the Next 3-4 Years, I'll Play Football

October 21 news: Anthony Edwards, the star player of the Minnesota Timberwolves, stated that if he wins an NBA championship in the next three to four years, he will play football.

Earlier, Edwards told ESPN, “If I win a ring in the next 3-4 years, I’m going to play football.”

Justin Jefferson, the football player who was also part of the interview, responded, “You’re not going to play football.”

Edwards immediately replied, “I am going to play football.”

This is not the first time Edwards has mentioned playing in the NFL. On the “Open Thoughts” podcast, he told comedian Marco Summers that he could potentially be the first person to play both in the NFL and the NBA.

“I might be the first one,” Edwards said, adding, “I’ll try… First, I need to take care of my business in the NBA… win a championship with this team in Minnesota. Then we can think about it.”

Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 225 pounds, Edwards theoretically has the physical attributes to be an excellent wide receiver. However, his primary focus now is leading Minnesota to their first NBA championship.

Historically, 13 athletes have played in both the MLB and NBA, including Danny Ainge, Dave DeBusschere, and Chuck Connors. Dual-sport stars in the NFL and MLB are also not uncommon, with the most famous being Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders. However, no one has ever played in both the NBA and the NFL simultaneously.
