On October 24, according to American media outlet TMZ, just hours before the father-son duo of the Jameses completed their historic co-playing feat, they were sued for their alleged roles in a car accident that occurred in 2022.
Court documents show that the lawsuit was filed with the Los Angeles County on Tuesday afternoon, local time, just hours before the Lakers’ opening game. Plaintiffs April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen stated that the incident took place on November 13, 2022 (local time) on a highway in Little Rock, California. At the time, they were driving when the Jameses allegedly crashed into them. Both plaintiffs were injured and required further medical treatment, and their vehicle also suffered significant depreciation due to the damage. They have filed a lawsuit against the Jameses and are seeking compensation.
The Jameses had not previously spoken publicly about the incident.
