U17 Chinese National Team Coach Li Xiaoyong: Does Not Recommend Talented Players Going Abroad; Lack of Self-Discipline Could Lead to Poor Foundation

On June 15th, according to insider Zhao探长, U17 national team coach Li Xiaoyong commented on the topic of talented player Xun Sinan and advised against young players going overseas at this stage.

Li Xiaoyong stated: “After March, there are fewer high school games in the US, so the player hasn’t had systematic training or matches for nearly two months. His condition is quite average – very, very soft. For a player with Xun Sinan’s talent, is sending him to the US the most effective way to develop him? Once he’s there, it all depends on the player himself. It won’t be like here, where someone monitors every aspect of your training quality and technical details. The national youth team is also helping Xun Sinan adjust his shooting technique and other technical nuances. We’re afraid that if we wait too long, many things will become hard to correct.”
