Recently, according to a report by TA journalist Mike Vorkunov, a preliminary plan for the WNBA’s next broadcasting agreement has taken shape, estimated at $2.2 billion over 11 years, averaging about $200 million per year.
In the recently concluded NBA broadcasting agreement, the NBA struck a deal with three major companies—ESPN (owned by Disney), NBC, and Amazon—for an 11-year contract worth approximately $76 billion. The WNBA’s new broadcasting agreement was also signed with these three major companies.
The current broadcasting agreement for the WNBA is worth around $50 million annually, while the NBA’s current broadcasting agreement is worth approximately $2.67 billion annually, both expiring after the 2024-25 season.
The new broadcasting agreements will bring exponential revenue increases to both leagues, leading to a significant rise in player salaries. Both the NBA and WNBA are entering a new era!
