Anhui vs Wuhan Preview: Defending Champions Bounce Back, Wuhan Faces Another Loss

After an upset loss to Jiangsu Tonggou Guocang, their winning streak came to an end, but they bounced back strongly in their last match, defeating Hefei Fengfeng Junmao 111-9. Pier Jackson and Darcee each scored over 20 points, while Yang Wenbo contributed 24 points with a 6-of-5 shooting from three-point range, showcasing Anhui’s aggressive performance on both offense and defense.

With the three imports stepping up at different times, plus local players like Yang Wenbo, Tang Jie, and Li Xiangbo making significant contributions, Anhui remains highly competitive as long as there are no major dips in form. Facing a Wuhan team that has struggled this season, Anhui holds advantages across most positions and is favored to win even on the road.

Wuhan currently sits at the bottom of the standings with a 0-5 record, averaging a league-worst minus-27.4 points per game in their last five matches. Highly dependent on Hamlett’s performance, Wuhan saw him score 45 points in their recent loss to Jiangsu but still fell short. With Geneartar and Jisula’s continued poor form, the lack of competitiveness among the domestic players has become more apparent.

Hosting Anhui, Wuhan will need its three imports to shoulder a heavy load, particularly in defending and securing rebounds. For Wuhan to improve its competitiveness, a marked improvement in defense will be crucial to protecting their home court.
