Ballmer: Players’ Careers Are Short-Lived, Respect George’s Departure Decision

In recent interviews, Steve Ballmer, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, expressed his fondness for Paul George, albeit with a tinge of regret at not being able to continue their partnership, ultimately bowing to the player’s final decision.

Ballmer stated, “I love Paul. I want to start by saying that Paul is a great guy, a good person, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet him and his family. So personally, it really bothers me that we can’t keep going together.”

“From a basketball perspective, Paul is an exceptional player, and in my opinion, he has a high chance of being inducted into the Hall of Fame. We offered Paul a competitive deal, but our main consideration was how the team could aim for championships. That wasn’t what Paul wanted, so he decided to leave, and I respect his decision. Athletes have a relatively short window to earn big money through their careers.”
