The official announcement from the basketball association states that Guo Shiqiang has been formally appointed as the head coach of China’s men’s national basketball team.
The Chinese Basketball Association has hired Guo Shiqiang to serve as the head coach of China’s men’s national basketball team.
In preparation for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, and in line with the future development strategy for the national men’s team, following the Chinese Basketball Association’s selection process for the head coach position, it has been decided that Guo Shiqiang will be hired as the head coach of China’s men’s national basketball team.
Guo Shiqiang previously served as head coach and assistant coach of China’s men’s national basketball team, participating in major competitions such as the Olympics, World Cup, Asian Games, and Asian Championships. Additionally, he has held the position of head coach at CBA league clubs, leading teams to win CBA championships.
The Chinese Basketball Association will continue to adhere to the principle of assembling a team with “a global perspective, international standards, Chinese characteristics, and high positioning,” benchmarking against international best practices, to form an international composite team. The goal is to build a Chinese men’s national basketball team known for its excellent conduct, strong fighting spirit, advanced concepts, and distinctive style.
