On July 14, the official Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) released the “Management Measures for Chinese Basketball Skill Level,” aimed at providing a more scientific and standardized guide and grading standards for basketball skills to young people and basketball enthusiasts.
Q9: Who constitutes the group of assessors for the skill level evaluation?
An assessor refers to a natural person who has attained a certain level of basketball skills, undergone training, passed an examination, and obtained the qualifications as a basketball skill level assessor.
Assessors are divided into two categories: examiners and evaluators.
Examiners are appointed by the level assessment management organization. They must hold certification as a coach or referee at the CBA level or above. Their responsibilities include venue inspections, process management, verification of evaluators, and supervision during assessment activities within the jurisdiction of the level assessment management organization;
Evaluators are hired directly by the assessment institution. They must hold certification as a coach or referee at the CBA E level or above. Their responsibility is to record and confirm whether applicants for level assessment have reached the applied skill level within the jurisdiction of the level assessment management organization.
Q10: What measures are in place to ensure the integrity of the basketball skill level assessment?
The CBA will strictly enforce discipline during the skill level assessment process. It will also open channels for complaints and reports, accepting public scrutiny of all work related to level assessment from all sectors of society.
Furthermore, as the project is currently in its pilot stage, we welcome constructive feedback and suggestions from all sectors of society. Let us work together to strengthen the foundation of basketball and promote high-quality development of Chinese basketball.
Q11: How will the basketball skill level assessment be promoted nationwide?
In July 2024, the Chinese Basketball Association initiated a pilot project for basketball skill level assessment in Hubei province. Subsequently, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Shandong, and Shenzhen (a sub-provincial city) will also serve as pilot units, gradually implementing basketball skill level assessments. As the pilot work progresses, the Chinese Basketball Association will continuously summarize and learn from the valuable experiences of each pilot unit, further refining the assessment standards and optimizing business processes. This will lay a solid foundation for the comprehensive promotion of basketball skill level assessment across the country.
