Clippers Official: Jeff Van Gundy Joins Clippers as Tyronn Lue's Lead Assistant Coach

On June 19, the Clippers officially announced that Jeff Van Gundy has joined the team to serve as Tyronn Lue’s lead assistant coach.

Van Gundy previously served as head coach for the Knicks and the Rockets, amassing 430 regular season wins and 44 playoff victories. He coached Tyronn Lue back in 2004.

According to previous reports, Clippers’ President of Basketball Operations Frank was reportedly a huge admirer of Jeff Van Gundy and sought his return to coaching.

Jeff Van Gundy is 62 years old and last coached in the NBA in 2007 as the head coach of the Rockets. After being let go by Houston in 2007, he joined ESPN as an analyst. In June 2023, Van Gundy was let go by ESPN and then in October of the same year, he joined the Boston Celtics as a Senior Advisor to the Basketball Operations Department.
