July 27th update, the grand opening of the Paris Olympics saw LeBron James, the NBA star, serving as the flag bearer for the US delegation during the opening ceremony.
Reflecting on his experience as this year’s Olympic flag bearer, James expressed that it was a personal honor. “It’s a great privilege to represent my country here. I come from a Black family, and being able to represent our community and its culture gives hope to many. That’s what we want to see,” he said.
Moreover, James mentioned that being a flag bearer and participating in the Olympics is an extraordinary experience in his life, as it allows him to join a new team and meet new friends in Paris.
“I’m thrilled to be a flag bearer, but most importantly, I hope to inspire the next generation through this experience. I’ve participated in the Beijing and London Olympics before, now it’s the Paris Olympics, and I’m honored to represent my country and be part of it,” he continued.
LeBron James is the first NBA player to serve as the flag bearer for the US Olympic delegation.
