Prior to today’s game, the Lynx officially wished their starting center Alanna Smith a happy 28th birthday.
Smith was selected eighth overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Mercury, after which she began her journeyman career.
This season, upon joining the Lynx, she has performed exceptionally well, securing her position as the team’s starting center, and helping the Lynx maintain their position as second in the league and first in the West. Additionally, she helped the Lynx win the Commissioner’s Cup and is making a strong push for the championship,
This season, Smith averages 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.4% and a three-point shooting percentage of an impressive 42.3%, demonstrating high efficiency on offense and solid performance on defense.
She, along with guard Williams, both transferred from the Sky to the Lynx this season, contributing significantly to the Lynx’s rise.
Furthermore, Smith also won a bronze medal with the Australian women’s basketball team at the Olympics and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
