Media Person: Han Xu's Withdrawal Last Night Was Due to Gastric Cramps

A domestic sports media person, @Song Xiang, wrote about China’s women’s basketball team’s game last night.

The report goes as follows:

On the morning of July 22, China’s women’s basketball team completed their final pre-Olympic warm-up match before the Olympic Games, losing to the French women’s basketball team with a score of 76-93. This marked the end of all their Olympic warm-up matches, and they will soon depart for the Olympics’ Rill village. During this warm-up match on the 22nd, the team’s main center, Han Xu, had a good performance in the first half with 9 points scored, but she did not participate in the second half. It was discovered that Han Xu experienced symptoms of gastric cramps during halftime rest. To prevent her condition from worsening, the team decided not to arrange her to play the rest of the game.

During previous domestic warm-up matches, Han Xu did not participate due to her intense workload over the past two years, which included multiple major events, especially long-distance flights during the WNBA season. This resulted in significant physical wear and even depletion. At the conclusion of the WCBA season, Han Xu joined the team in preparing for the Paris Olympics, where she primarily focused on recovery for the first month. During the initial domestic warm-up games, she missed five matches. Following this, Han Xu joined the team for overseas training, returning to the court and gradually improving her game state. However, her physical condition was not at its best. For example, during the warm-up match against France, Han Xu had a good performance in the first half but experienced symptoms of gastric cramps during halftime. To avoid the situation escalating, the team did not arrange her to play in the second half. Fellow forward Sun Mengran took on a significant amount of playing time in the latter part of the game.

It is understood that Han Xu’s body discomfort was a result of previous physical exhaustion. The Chinese women’s basketball team has been cautious in their use of Han Xu, aiming to ensure she performs at her best during the Olympic Games.
