Official Announcement! Kings Reach Multi-Year Extension with Head Coach Brown, Achieving Wins in Recent Seasons

On July 18, it was announced that on Wednesday local time, Mike Brown officially reached a multi-year contract extension with the Sacramento Kings. According to previous reports, Brown and the Kings agreed to a three-year, $30 million extension, which will keep him as the team’s head coach through at least the 2026-27 season.

It was reported that during the offseason, there were “disagreements” between Brown and the Kings in contract negotiations, but both sides quickly reached an agreement. Prior to the extension, Brown had one year remaining on his contract with the Kings, during which he led the team to a regular-season record of 94 wins and 70 losses over the first two seasons. Kings’ General Manager Monte McNair said in a statement: “Brown has done an excellent job leading the team, and extending his contract is well-deserved. He is extremely hungry for success, and we look forward to him achieving greater glory.”

This summer, following their loss in the Western Conference Play-In game and missing out on the NBA playoffs, the Kings signed six-time All-Star DeRozan in early July, which undoubtedly significantly enhanced the strength of the team coached by Brown.
