On Fire! Tatum’s Explosive Three-Quarter Performance Helps Celtics Secure a Winning Start

On October 23, the NBA regular season kicked off with the defending champion Boston Celtics defeating the New York Knicks 132-109 at home, marking a successful start to their new season.

After receiving their championship rings, the Celtics players came out firing on all cylinders, hitting 10 three-pointers in the first quarter. They maintained their hot shooting from beyond the arc throughout the game, gradually approaching the record of 29 three-pointers in a single game. With 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Al Horford hit the 29th three-pointer from the corner, tying the historical record. However, the Celtics’ outside shooting cooled down shortly after, but they still managed to secure the victory.

Tatum was particularly on fire, scoring 15 points in the first quarter and finishing with 37 points and 10 assists in just three quarters. He shot an impressive 14-of-18 from the field and 8-of-11 from three-point range, helping the team build a significant lead early on. Jaylen Brown added 23 points, Malcolm Brogdon contributed 24 points, and Jalen Brunson scored 18 points, while Al Horford had 11 points and Sam Hauser chipped in with 10 points. Unfortunately, they fell just short of breaking the single-game three-pointer record, but it was a strong start nonetheless.
