Pierce: Would Pick LeBron Over Durant in Crucial Games; Still Has Nightmares About James

July 30 news: To this day, Paul Pierce still views LeBron James as a superior basketball player over Kevin Durant.

Earlier, Pierce was asked who he would pick between LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Pierce responded, “To be honest, I also really like Durant, and I know his scoring capabilities. But I would pick LeBron, because I’ve seen him perform firsthand. There are some games I’ll never forget, and maybe I still have nightmares about them, like the game in Boston where LeBron delivered on his promise.”

Clearly, Pierce is referring to LeBron James’ performance against the Celtics in Game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals, where he scored 45 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had 5 assists with a shooting percentage of 73.1%.

“I still remember the 2007 game against Detroit when LeBron was still in Cleveland. In that game, he scored 48 points, including 25 consecutive points. He stepped up when they really needed it. But I can’t think of a standout game associated with Durant’s performance, because I always recall when the Thunder were up 3-1 against the Warriors and Durant couldn’t lead the team to the Finals. So, if I had to pick a player for crucial games, I’d choose LeBron,” Pierce added.

Pierce is referring to the 2016 Western Conference Finals where the Oklahoma City Thunder lost to the Golden State Warriors after leading 3-1.
