Preview of Sichuan vs. Beikong: Beikong Has a Clear Advantage, Sichuan Aims for Rebound After Three Consecutive Losses

At 19:35 on October 19, the CBA regular season continues with Sichuan hosting Beikong.

Sichuan’s performance in recent years has been poor, but there have been significant changes this new season. The head coach is now the young Han Shuo, and they have brought in domestic players such as Li Jinxiao and Li Weihao. They also signed Yang Wenxue and Yang Zheng in the draft, and replaced their three foreign players with Samner, Maric, and Hunter. Hunter is a familiar face, while the other two are new additions.

Sichuan’s start to the new season has been disappointing, losing to Ningbo, Shanxi, and Beijing, suffering three consecutive losses. In these three games, they lost by more than 10 points each, averaging only 98.7 points per game, placing them fourth from the bottom. However, in their last away game against Beijing, they performed very well, giving fans a glimpse of their progress.

Sichuan’s domestic players are generally average, but their foreign players are strong. Samner averages 35 points per game, ranking third in the league, and has scored 46 points in a single game. Maric averages 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds, while Hunter, after struggling in the first two games, found some form in the last game, scoring 17 points. Together, the three foreign players contribute an average of 64 points per game, providing strong firepower. Among the domestic players, Li Jinxiao stands out, scoring 22 points in the last game with five three-pointers, making him the only domestic player to score in double digits on average.

Beikong strengthened their roster during the off-season by signing several tough players, including Shen Zijie, Salinger, and Zhu Songwei, along with existing players like Tres, Ryle, Liao Saning, Zou Yuchen, and Zhang Fan. Under the guidance of veteran coach Min Lulei, Beikong’s prospects for the new season look promising. In the first three rounds, Beikong has a record of 2 wins and 1 loss, defeating Jilin and Jiangsu, and narrowly losing to Xinjiang in their last game, suffering their first defeat of the season.

Tres averages 20 points and 7.7 assists, making him the team’s top scorer. Ryle averages 17.3 points, and Salinger averages 11.3 points and 8.7 rebounds, though he hasn’t reached his best form yet. Zou Yuchen, Shen Zijie, and Zhang Fan also score in double digits. From the first three rounds, it’s clear that Beikong lacks a superstar scorer, but they have multiple scoring points, often leaving opponents at a loss.

In terms of strength, Beikong is clearly stronger than Sichuan. However, with Sichuan returning home after three consecutive losses, their desire to win will be strong, and they might pose some challenges to Beikong.
