Today in the WNBA regular season, the Lynx secured a significant 89-76 victory over the Mercury on the road.
This win marks the Lynx’s seventh consecutive victory. Since the Olympics, they have won all six of their games showing excellent form, including two wins over the reigning champions, the Aces, which has been impressive. Additionally, due to the Sun’s loss to the Fever today, the Lynx have climbed to second place in the league.
The team’s core player, Collier, has been in great form recently and was awarded Player of the Week. The new additions to the team this season, veteran guard Williams and forward Smith, have fit in very well. The team also boasts top shooters like McBride and Carter, and off the bench, they have the recently acquired Allen, Italian standout Zandalasini, Hungarian center Juhász, bench shooter Heideman, and the No. 2 pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, Miller. The team is coached by Cheryl Reeve, who can be considered one of the best coaches in WNBA history (having led the Lynx to four championships in seven years) and is currently the head coach of the USA women’s national team. Such a roster is fully equipped, and the Lynx have also won the Commissioner’s Cup this season.
The Lynx’s next five opponents are the Wings, Sky, Fever, Mystics, and Dream, all of whom are somewhat weaker than the Lynx, so it’s worth expecting the Lynx to continue their winning streak.
Recently, with the retirement ceremony of the team’s legend and cornerstone of the Lynx dynasty, Maya Moore, the Lynx players witnessed this glorious moment. One wonders if this has sparked any aspirations within them for the championship this season, to reclaim the past glory of the Lynx?
