Shms: Veteran Rudy Gay, Who Played 17 NBA Seasons, Officially Retires

Today, according to renowned reporter Shams, veteran Rudy Gay, who played 17 seasons in the NBA, has officially retired.

Rudy Gay was born on August 17, 1986, and is 38 years old this year.

In the 2006 NBA Draft, he was selected by the Houston Rockets with the eighth overall pick in the first round but was subsequently traded to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the deal for Shane Battier. Throughout his career, he played for teams such as the Grizzlies, Raptors, Spurs, and Jazz.

Gay could perform at an almost All-Star level during his time with the Grizzlies, Raptors, and Kings. He averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over his career, and was named to the All-Rookie First Team and won Rookie of the Month once.
