The Official Announcement by China's Basketball Team Lists Hu Mingxuan as Captain of the National Team

Today, according to Wang Shenwei, a media figure, Hu Mingxuan has officially been listed as the captain of the Chinese national basketball team by the official channels of China’s Basketball Team.

He wrote in his original post,

“The former Xiao Hu (Little Hu) is now transformed into Captain Hu. In the latest post from the official account of China’s Basketball Team, Hu Mingxuan is clearly identified with the title of Captain of the Chinese National Basketball Team.”

The official announcement from China’s Basketball Team reads as follows.

“On September 17th, coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Chinese national basketball team, currently preparing for the 2024 warm-up matches in Quzhou, visited the Xinhu Campus of Quzhou Experimental School Education Group to engage in an interactive public welfare activity with local youth and individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Autism Spectrum Disorder is the most common and representative condition among pervasive developmental disorders. The disease manifests primarily during infancy and early childhood, characterized by social interaction impairments, communication difficulties, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors. Individuals with ASD are often referred to as ‘children of the stars.’ Amidst their participation in warm-up matches, the Chinese national basketball team hopes to call for more attention and care for this group through their actions.

During the event, athletes and coaches of the Chinese national basketball team participated in various basketball games alongside individuals with ASD and volunteer students. These individuals with ASD regularly participate in basketball training and games as a means of integrating into society and leading a normal life. The athletes and coaches continuously assisted the individuals with ASD, cheered them on, and applauded their goals.

At the event site, representatives of the Chinese national basketball team exchanged gifts with the participating individuals with ASD.

Qiu Wenjun, president of the Quzhou Association for Autism and Their Families, said, ‘The power of basketball goes beyond competition; it’s about conveying teamwork and courage. Through today’s interactions, we believe the children can feel unity and hope, which will greatly assist their future growth.’

Captain Hu Mingxuan of the Chinese national basketball team expressed that this event served as a practical lesson on ‘love and social responsibility’ for the national team. Through the event, they saw the changes that individuals with ASD and their families experienced on the basketball court, and as basketball professionals, they felt proud. They also hope that this event can draw more attention to individuals with ASD and their families and encourage continuous involvement in similar public welfare activities.

In the future, the Chinese national basketball team will continue to participate in public welfare activities in addition to their training and competitions, helping others and giving back to society while enhancing the sense of social responsibility among team members.”

It is hoped that Captain Hu can lead the Chinese national basketball team out of its predicament. Tomorrow at 7 PM, the Chinese national basketball team will play a warm-up match against the Spanish league powerhouse, Joventut Badalona, in Quzhou.
