Why Use a Rotation? Kerr: Current Roster Is the Deepest I've Had & Can't Say No

October 24 news, in the NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 139-104, securing their opening win of the new season.

In this game, head coach Steve Kerr showcased a brand-new Warriors team to the world. Throughout the game, the Warriors used an unusual 12-man rotation, with no player logging more than 25 minutes. Six players scored in double digits, and the team hit 20 three-pointers and recorded 12 steals.

Post-game, when commenting on the team’s performance, Kerr said, “This is the deepest team I’ve coached, and we need to take full advantage of that, so we need a lot of guys playing.”

Additionally, Kerr mentioned that he originally planned to use a 10-man rotation yesterday, but during today’s game, he couldn’t think of any reason to avoid using a 12-man rotation, so he went with it. He plans to continue using a 12-man rotation in the future.

After the game, Kerr also praised two players. One was Buddy Hield, who scored 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Kerr said, “Buddy is a vital part of our team, and everyone really likes him. He works hard every day.”

Regarding Wiggins, Kerr said, “This is exactly the Wiggins we were hoping for this year—calm and in great form. He is in the prime of his career. I believe he will have a fantastic season.”
