WNBA Playoffs Round 1: All Home Teams Secure Wins and Series Leads—Do You Think They Will Advance?

On September 23, the first game of the WNBA playoffs round 1 took place, with all four matches now concluded.

The top-seeded New York Liberty in the East maintained a lead throughout the game, defeating the fourth-seeded Dream 83-69.

Liberty player Stewart scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Feibisi hit 4 out of 4 three-pointers to get 21 points.

The second-seeded Sun in the East, after leading by 8 points at halftime, dominated the fourth quarter to secure a 93-69 victory over the third-seeded Fever, winning by 24 points.

Sun player Mabrey scored 27 points, and Thomas recorded a triple-double. Fever player Clark hit only 2 out of 13 three-pointers, scoring 11 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and making 8 assists with 2 turnovers.

The top-seeded Lynx in the West once led by 21 points but was overtaken by the fourth-seeded Mercury with two minutes left in the game. In the closing moments, Collier, Carlton, and McBride stepped up, securing a 102-95 home win despite the scare.

The second-seeded Aces only managed 9 points in the first quarter, with Wilson scoring just 4 points in the first half before exploding for 15 points in the third quarter to briefly take the lead. By the end of the third quarter, the third-seeded Storm held a one-point advantage. However, the fourth quarter saw a dramatic shift as the Storm missed all 12 field goal attempts and scored only 2 points, allowing the Aces to close the game with a 14-2 run and win 78-67.

Wilson finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds, while Ogwumike added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Thus far, all four games of the first round of the WNBA playoffs have been played, with all home teams emerging victorious and taking the lead in the best-of-three series.
