According to the latest media reports, current WBC/WBA Super/IBF/WBO Super Bantamweight Champion, Japan’s “Monster” Naoya Inoue (27-0, 24 KO), has reached an agreement with former IBF Super Bantamweight Champion Irishman TJ Doheny (26-4, 20 KO). The two are set to fight in Japan this September.
The 37-year-old TJ Doheny currently has a professional record of 27 wins, with 24 knockouts. He is ranked 14th in the BOXREC-122 pound comprehensive ranking. TJ Doheny stands at 1.66 meters tall, with a reach of 1.73 meters. In August 2018, he traveled to Japan and won the IBF-122 pound world title by defeating Ryosuke Iwasa over twelve rounds on points. In 2019, he TKO’d Japanese boxer Takashi Koshimoto in the eleventh round, successfully defending his title once. In his last three fights, TJ Doheny has won consecutively, all fought in Japan.
The 31-year-old Naoya Inoue is currently the second-ranked top king in The Ring magazine’s P4P ranking, only behind Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KO). Naoya Inoue stands at 1.65 meters tall, with a reach of 1.71 meters. On May 6, he TKO’d Luis Nery in six rounds. After this title defense, Naoya Inoue may move up to 126 pounds in 2025.
