Recently, former WBO super welterweight champion Australian Tim Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) told the media that he could have knocked out current WBC/WBO super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora (21-1, 13 KOs), but unfortunately, he did not seize the opportunity.
Tszyu said, “I felt in control of the pace in the fight, everything was going well. Personally, I think I could have done better, and I could have KO’d Fundora. Fundora is a tough opponent, a tall southpaw, it’s challenging dealing with such a long-limbed fighter, perhaps he became smarter after feeling my power.”
Fundora stands at 1.97 meters tall with a reach of 2.03 meters, making him a lamppost-like presence among 154-pound boxers. For this bout against Tim Tszyu, Fundora changed his previous close-quarters fighting style, emphasizing jabs to keep Tszyu at medium to long range.
Fundora’s next fight might be against former WBC/WBA Super/IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) by the end of the year.
