Recently, British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn spoke to the media about potential fights between current WBA Lightweight Champion and three-division world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) of the USA and Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs), as well as Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs). Hearn believes that if Davis cannot knock out these two, he will lose on points.
Eddie Hearn said: “Davis is an excellent fighter, exciting in the ring, a big puncher. However, Davis often falls behind on points. In his fights against Frank Martin and Ryan Garcia, he was behind on points, as well as in his fight against Isaac Cruz. And these guys are not even on the same level as Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson. If Davis doesn’t KO these two, he will lose on points. But Davis has power, he’s not just a big puncher, he’s also got good boxing IQ, just not as high as Lomachenko or Shakur Stevenson. If he doesn’t KO these two, he’ll lose on points. I predict Davis will KO Lomachenko, but before the KO, he’ll be behind on points.”
Shakur Stevenson recently turned down a $15 million deal for five fights from Bob Arum and became a free agent. Now, Hearn isn’t particularly interested in Shakur Stevenson, so Stevenson may sign with Al Haymon’s PBC, especially since Davis is also under the PBC banner.
