Today, current IBF Welterweight Champion American “Boo Boo” Jaron Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) and Armenian-Russian boxer David Avanesyan (30-4-1, 18 KOs) held their final pre-fight press conference at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. On July 14th (Sunday), Beijing time, at noon, the two will engage in a scheduled 12-round welterweight bout.
David Avanesyan said, “This is a 50-50 fight. I’ve been in many big fights, and this is a great opportunity for me, one that I will give my all.”
Jaron Ennis stated, “I will definitely knock out Avanesyan. I don’t need to chase my opponent in this fight; I will enjoy the process of the fight, deliver an exciting boxing match, and wait for the knockout opportunity to present itself.”
The current odds for this bout are 1-12, with Jaron Ennis heavily favored. Avanesyan was knocked out in the 6th round by Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) in December 2022, showing some gap from the elite level at 147 pounds.
Now that Crawford and Spence Jr. are planning to move up to 154 pounds, Jaron Ennis has become the leading figure at 147 pounds.
