Recently, former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew (30-3-1, 20 KOs), speaking to the media, stated that if Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) ultimately doesn’t face Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) for their highly anticipated rematch by the end of this year, Usyk should give current WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) an opportunity.
Tony Bellew said, “We’ve been waiting for Usyk vs. Fury II, but if it doesn’t happen, Usyk should give Joseph Parker a shot. Having Fury and Joshua on the undercard beforehand would be ideal. It’s definitely the best setup.”
The rematch between Tyson Fury and Usyk is now scheduled for December 21st, with Fury’s purse set at $76 million, less than their first encounter. However, Usyk’s purse will increase to $114 million, more than double what he earned in the first fight. Following this bout, Fury will then square off against Anthony Joshua.
