Recently, current WBO junior lightweight champion and two-division world titleholder Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs) told the media that he predicts Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs), the WBA lightweight titlist, will knock out Francisco Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) within rounds 6-7 in their upcoming title defense.
Lopez said, “Martin has never fought at this level before, with tens of thousands in attendance and probably over a million viewers on television. There will be immense pressure on him, but that’s what he wants. I think Martin will give Davis some problems, expose his vulnerabilities, but does Martin have the resilience? He has nothing to lose, as nobody really expects him to win. I foresee Davis stopping Martin in rounds 6-7.”
Davis and Martin are set to collide on June 16, with odds heavily favoring Davis at 1-5. However, Davis is not known for his ability to box for points, while Martin possesses solid point-scoring skills, which could pose some challenges for Davis.
