Former unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) recently told the media that Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) must be more aggressive in their December 21st rematch, putting pressure on Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
Joshua said, “Everyone says before they fight Usyk, ‘I’m bigger, I’ll use my size advantage.’ But in the first fight, Fury was mostly defensive, while Usyk is an excellent boxer who can outwork opponents. Fury needs to step up his offense and impose his presence on Usyk.”
Joshua himself has fought Usyk twice. In their August 2021 bout, he fought a bit cautiously, relying on his jab, which allowed Usyk to showcase his boxing skills. In the August 2022 rematch, Joshua increased his aggression, but Usyk still found ways to counter, having moments of struggle yet ultimately demonstrating a winning strategy.
