The 32 competing teams have been distributed across four groups.
Today, ESL announced the groupings for the 32 teams participating in EPL S20, based on ESL World Rankings. The tournament runs from September 3-22, with a prize pool of $750,000.
The highest-ranked team in Group A is FaZe, accompanied by Natus Vincere, HEROIC, Eternal Fire, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Chinese squad Lynn Vision is also part of Group A.
Spirit, currently ranked number one in the world, leads Group B, followed by G2, The MongolZ, and 9z, among others.
Group C consists of three Top 15 teams: MOUZ, Astralis, and Complexity.
Group D welcomes Vitality and Virtus.pro, alongside Falcons, Liquid, and FURIA, making it an intriguing group, especially considering Liquid and FURIA are both undergoing roster changes. Falcons are also on the verge of a roster change.
Mongolz greeted French team 3DMAX in French on ESL’s official Twitter, hinting at a potential match-up if the group placements follow the pattern of the top team playing the eighth-placed team, and so on. However, the final matchups will be confirmed by ESL’s official announcement.
