The Esports World Cup has launched in Riyadh, marking the beginning of an eight-week competition. With a prize pool of $60 million and over twenty gaming titles, ranging from CS2 to League of Legends, from Call of Duty to racing games, the event is set to be a major milestone.
The Esports World Cup Foundation hosted the opening ceremony, ushering in this landmark tournament.
The event has attracted over 1,500 professional gamers representing 400 teams from more than 100 countries. During the opening ceremony livestream, the massive stage in Riyadh was showcased, accompanied by masked dancers, fireworks, and an LED drone display revealing the trophy.
Over the next eight weeks, the Esports World Cup will unfold, with the DOTA 2 competition featuring three Chinese teams: iG, LGD, and Azure Ray.
