According to recent data from Sensor Tower, the mobile game Dungeon & Fighter: Origin (abbreviated as DNF Mobile) has earned $270 million from the Chinese iOS market since its launch on May 21st.
Nan Lu, Senior Director of Marketing for APAC at Sensor Tower, commented, “Since its release, DNF Mobile has consistently topped various iOS charts. Its impressive and stable performance will depend on Tencent’s operation and ongoing game updates.”
Within just 10 days of its launch, the game surpassed $100 million in revenue, topping the growth charts. In 11 days, it exceeded the combined earnings of Honor of Kings and Peacekeeper Elite during the same period. The strong showing of DNF Mobile has been called “one of the most explosive mobile game debuts in recent years,” boosting Tencent’s mobile game revenue by 12% last month and providing a much-needed boost to its gaming business in China.
Ivan Su, a Senior Analyst at Morningstar, noted, “Nostalgia has been key to DNF Mobile’s massive success, tapping into the fond memories of China’s millennials who grew up playing the original DNF. Now with more disposable income, they are willing to spend on this familiar game’s mobile version.”
