On June 2nd, the “2024 Spring University Challenge Cup,” co-hosted by the Beijing Electronic Sports Industry Association, the School of Management and Communication at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, E-Sports magazine, and KOOK Voice, came to a successful conclusion. The University of Economics and Trade in Beijing and Beijing Institute of Technology emerged as champions in the Valorant and League of Legends categories respectively. The Spring University Challenge Cup is part of the “Esports Beijing” series, aimed at promoting esports culture, enriching university students’ extracurricular life, fostering teamwork and competitive spirit, and advancing esports development in higher education. The event serves as a platform for inter-university communication and cooperation in the esports field, allowing more students to understand the essence of esports and appreciate its allure.
The “2024 Spring University Challenge Cup” consisted of group stages, semifinals, and finals. The group stage was held online, while the semifinals and finals took place at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports. The Valorant championship podium featured the University of Economics and Trade in Beijing, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in first, second, and third places, respectively. In League of Legends, the top three spots were claimed by Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Forestry University, and Beihang University. As the exclusive voice tool for the tournament, KOOK Voice provided high-quality communication services throughout the competition. Beyond its role in esports events, KOOK Voice has become a popular platform for students to exchange gaming tips, communicate, and share music in their daily lives.
In 2021, then known as “Kaihei La,” KOOK secured a Series A funding round led by the prominent investment firm SIG (Sequoia Capital Global Equities). Since then, the company has improved its product performance and increased investment in technology, introducing features like AI-powered voice noise reduction and cross-terminal screen sharing, which have been well-received by users. More and more young people are now using KOOK as their preferred tool for esports communication and real-time interactions. Currently, hundreds of campus esports clubs from universities across the country have established their own dedicated servers on the KOOK platform, where students team up, learn, share music, and communicate. In the future, KOOK Voice will continue to refine its functions and enhance user experience, providing better esports experiences for passionate gamers.
