Apeks becomes the third European team to receive an invite. The event, organized by the Mongolian Esports Association (MESA), will take place in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, from May 28th to June 2nd, with a $100,000 prize pool.
Other invited teams include fellow Europeans OG and Gaimin Gladiators, as well as two Asian regional teams, Lynn Vision and TheMongolz.
Apeks has had an underwhelming year, slipping from their peak world ranking of tenth to their current position of twenty-second. Despite securing spots in the IEM Katowice Play-in and PGL Copenhagen Major, the team failed to deliver notable performances in these events and has since been striving to regain form.
The team failed to qualify for the BB Villa Cup, EWC, and ECL Jönköping Closed Qualifiers, with a win rate below 50% in matches over the past three months. Due to their lackluster performance in qualifiers, the MESA Nomadic Spring Masters will be the sole offline event they participate in for the foreseeable future.
In the recent ECL Melbourne tournament, Apeks advanced through the group stage by defeating sunday school and Aurora but were ultimately stopped in the semi-finals, losing 1-2 to eventual champions MIBR, finishing in fourth place.
The confirmed list of participants for the MESA Nomadic Spring Masters so far is:
TheMongolz
OG
Apeks
Lynn Vision
Gaimin Gladiators
